In September 2018 I contacted them regarding a water leak in my master bathroom that had caused damage out extending outside of the shower. Two weeks later they sent an adjuster who would not even crawl under the house to see the extent of the damage. I have left multiple messages requesting a call back and instruction on how to go about fixing. Noone ever returned my call. In November they sent me a check for a little over a thousand dollars. I was finally able to reach a customer service representative and informed her I was disputing their assessment because all tile in the shower and floor as well as sub flooring will need to be replaced. I had obtained two estimates both over 10 thousand to repair the bathroom. She asked me to upload the estimate which I did while on the phone with her. This was in November, now it is January and I have not heard anything further. I contacted them again at the end of December and they told me they had not assigned a new adjuster to my claim. Today I am filing a complaint with the Ga insurance commissioner. Monday I will consult a lawyer.

I placed a claim in January due to a plumbing issue. My kitchen had to be re-done. Claim process was slow at first plus it was also a nightmare to get workers. During the process my claims adjuster was changed the person assigned who was able to settle/close my claim was Jodi Spilotras​. Universal does not directly accept payments via credit or debit card.

It accepts ACH Payments via phone or online using the routing and account number from your US Based Checking or Savings account.

The company also accepts checks and certified funds mailed in. It is an electronic recipient for online bill payment providers, and currently listed as “Universal Property Casualty INS”.

How to File a Claim

In the event you need to file a claim, Universal allows you to do so entirely online. This can be a seamless process for many individuals. There is also a “fast track” program available.

However, if your claim is a result of a disaster or catastrophe, getting in touch with a real representative may be the better option, although trickier. During the last hurricane in 2017, Universal warned customers of delays in regards to filing claims.

Because of this, Universal now offers a “sophisticated computer telephony system” which redirects your messages to other representatives who will get back to you.
