Great customer service. Fast response and are always there to help. We had a bad leak in our kitchen. It was a nightmare. We didn’t have a kitchen for about 4 months. But everyone at SF made everything so easy and stress free. Our representative ShaNitra Gray-Dent was absolutely awesome. She made sure she answered all of our questions and always responded quickly. She broke everything down to make sure we would understand what’s going on and what we can do. As long as I own this house we will be using Security First. Thank you ShaNitra Gray-Dent and Security First for making us a happy customer.

Dealing with this company post Hurricane Michael. I'm just getting started but so far I have been appalled at what I'm learning i.e. my home considered livable with wet moldy carpet, broken windows, leaky roof etc. Also, Additional Living Expenses that I've been paying to have coverage for have conditions and stipulations etc. Once I make it out on the other side of this mess, I will certainly be doing everything I can to switch agencies and tell EVERYONE WHO WILL LISTEN about this experience. At this point, it'll be a miracle if they even pay for the repairs. Will reassess post experience and update if it gets better or as I suspect it will be. :-( As a positive, I am much smarter on insurance now and will be better informed on what specific questions to get more detail and DOCUMENTATION on when I pursue a new company. Knowledge is power.

The company does everything they can to drag out your claim. You may hear of other companies making payouts within a few weeks of a disaster but not so with Security First. How about 4 months later I still can't get the money for my roof. How about let's offer you a few thousand and tell you that's all we can give you. Then after a load of complaining "ok we will double it". They make no sense! They lied to us telling us we would receive a check in 10 days- it's been 1 month now. I've got claims in from different storms & nothings been finalized.

How to make payments

Security First offers flexible payment options when you purchase a new policy or when your policy is up for renewal. These include semi-annual, quarterly and monthly payments.

To make a payment online, policyholders can log into their online customer portal, My Security First. You may also choose to pay over the phone by calling (877) 333-9992. Security First accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Credit cards are also acceptable methods of payment via the mobile app, Security First Mobile.


How to File a Claim

Security First offers three ways to file a claim. The first way is over the phone by calling (877) 581-4862. You may also file a claim online using the customer portal, My Security First. Further, you may file your claim using the Security First Mobile app, which allows you to upload photos of the damage.

Once you file a claim, Security First assigns your case to a third-party adjusting company. This company will send an adjuster to assess the damage to your home. In the event of a major disaster, claims are prioritized by the severity of the damage, Security First’s website states, so delays may occur.

After the assessment, the adjuster will then send a damage report to a claim examiner, who will review the report and create an estimate to repair the damage. This examiner will contact the filer by phone to discuss the estimate in detail, according to the company’s website.

Reinsurance program

According to its website, Security First’s protection program is enough to withstand a hurricane twenty times the cost of Hurricane Andrew.

“Our multiple event protection allows us to withstand another 2004 hurricane season with four storms and still continue to grow our business,” the website states.
